Avanti scraps sale option after brokering US$242m refinancing deal

Avanti Communications has ended its strategic review and agreed a refinancing deal with bondholders to issue more notes and defer payments while it works to get its Hylas 4 satellite off the ground. The debt transaction would create US$242m in additional liquidity for working capital, with the British operator offering US$130m in new PIK toggle notes and postponing US$112m in coupon payments due to its existing noteholders until April 2018.

Telesat downsizes bond offering after US Treasury yields surge on Trump

Telesat has shrunk the portion of its refinancing package that will consist of senior notes from US$750m to US$500m and upsized its new term loan by US$250m to US$2.43bn. The Canadian FSS operator did not explain why it downsized the offering in its disclosure, which came on the same day as US government-bond prices tumbled as Donald Trump was declared the winner of the US presidential election.
