CenturyLink to sell data centre business for US$2.15bn to fund Level 3 purchase

CenturyLink has agreed to sell its data centre and colocation business to a consortium made up of funds advised by private equity firm BC Partners, Medina Capital Advisors and Longview Asset Management. The US telco said it will receive US$2.15bn in cash and a US$150m minority stake in the consortium's newly-formed global secure infrastructure company.

Private equity quartet among bidders for CenturyLink data centre assets

GTCR, Charlesbank Capital Partners, Berkshire Partners and Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners have reportedly banded together to bid for US telco CenturyLink’s data centre business. CenturyLink CEO Glen Post recently said that the company aims to finalise the strategic review process for its colocation business in the late third or early fourth quarter.

ExteNet completes US$1.4bn capital restructure to boost growth

US wireless infrastructure firm ExteNet Systems has completed a US$1.4bn capital restructuring led by investment firms Digital Bridge and Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners. Digital Bridge CEO Marc Ganzi believes the tech unicorn represents a "multi-billion dollar opportunity" to cash in on surging demand for data traffic.
